RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW LONDON ARTIST I AM SHE

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide to start the band / become a soloist?

I’ve been singing since I was 8 years old and have always loved music and been gifted in making music and songwriting. Music has been and always will be a part of me; expressing myself through music is something I was born to do.

Introduce us all to the members and your musical history?

I am a solo independent artist. I started singing in choirs as a child and writing poems that later turned into songs. I’ve played the piano since I was 8 years old by ear at first, then branched into learning classical pieces. I started releasing music to the world in 2017 when I was signed to Deevu Records under the alias ‘Unesha Marie’ where I featured on my first dance/electronic single consisting of melodic rap called ‘Drugs Are Better Without You’, the track received radio play across Europe and was remixed by Drum & Bass DJ Angel Farringdon.

Fast forward to 2020, I became an independent artist and began writing & releasing music under my new stage name I AM SHE. So far, I’ve released 5 singles which showcase my creative flair in R&B, EDM and Pop.

What’s the best piece of advice you have received?

Keep going, keep using your voice, and follow your dreams.

If you could choose, would you prefer to time travel to the past or go forward in time? And why?

I would like to go forward in time. I’m interested in the future, not the past. The past can’t be changed but the future is something that can be shaped depending on what’s being done presently.

If you had to describe your band to an alien how would you describe them?

I AM SHE makes unique music and she’s not afraid to experiment and try new things. Every song has a different mood and style, there’s a lot of versatility surrounding I AM SHE. Her musical direction is to consistently innovate and express individuality.

If you could play any music festival which would it be?

Glastonbury!

Best gig you’ve been to that you weren’t playing?

System Of A Down in Berlin, Germany

What advice would you give someone going into the music industry?

Be yourself, be consistent and never let anybody tell you that you can’t do something or that you can’t be who you want to be.

What’s your biggest achievement as a band/Artist?

Having my first music video hit 30K view in 2 months

What’s your favourite song to play live and why?

Dusk Til’ Dawn, it’s very moody and it gets people in their feels

I hear you have a new single brewing, what can you tell us about it?

My new single flow is the epitome of magnificent splendor in Pop music, boasting a diversity of style with it’s upbeat hint of funk and R&B qualities that have all been molded together with the innovative beat to create a masterpiece in melodic transcendence. The track encourages you to let go of your inhibitions and embrace love by living in the moment.

Talk me through the thought process of the single/album?

Flow was written and recorded last summer, I was in the studio and I sourced the beat online, then the words just came to me the more I listened to the instrumental, I just wrote and sung exactly how it made me feel.

What was the recording process like?

Quick and easy, the harmonies and the melody all came together pretty fast and just made perfect sense,

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single/album?

It’s best to write what you feel and not think too hard about it.

Would you change anything now its finished?

I would not.

What are your plans for the year ahead?

Keep writing as much music as possible, release as much as possible and stay consistent with it, also get myself out there more in terms of performing live and also get some collaborations.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Watch this space, I have a lot more great things to come.

Thanks for doing us today folks, all the best and keep in touch.
