What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
Music has always been a passion and a calling for me. Growing up in a family that values art and culture, I was surrounded by music from a very young age. The inspiration and support from my loved ones played a crucial role in my decision to pursue a music career.
Introduce us to you all and your musical history.
I am Naomi Aguilera, a Belgian-Spanish pop soul singer-songwriter. My journey in music began when I was younger; I used to do musical shows and take singing lessons. I stopped when I was a teen because I wasn’t confident enough to go on stage anymore. I always felt drawn to music but felt that something inside me was blocking me. During COVID, I had loads of free time, so I started learning piano by myself and posting covers on Instagram.
I started collaborating with some producers who saw my videos. Then in 2021, I was eager to meet more people in the music sphere but didn’t know how, so I started organizing jams and concerts for beginners in my garden in my shared house in Brussels. The concept grew super fast and it actually became my job. I now organize cultural events with concerts, exhibitions, DJ sets, art sales, etc., all around venues in Brussels and even abroad. This led me to meet more musicians and producers and to really focus on developing my musical projects. We do residencies, meet at the studio, and these people really became my close friends. I’m super grateful for the journey.
What’s the live music scene like in Brussels right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (besides you, of course)?
Obviously, check out my project La Forestière! Our aim is to support emerging artists and create a vibrant and diverse network. One artist to look out for is Leo Fifty Five, my collaborator and a talented producer who brings a unique touch to the music scene here.
I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?
The music industry can be challenging, especially for independent artists. That is why I wanted to create a space where artists can support one another and develop their projects. It’s essential to stay true to your artistic vision and build a supportive community around your work.
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?
I feel that I am at the beginning of a promising journey in the music industry. But I am loving the journey. I am super well-surrounded and encouraged by my entourage, and each experience is a blessing. With my debut single “EGO” and the upcoming release of “Corazón,” I hope to continue moving forward!
Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.
I speak three languages fluently.
I have performed at the Royal Albert Hall.
I have lived in Australia.
Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….
As an artist, it’s important to be mindful of how my words and actions can be perceived. However, I believe in staying true to my values and expressing myself honestly. While cancel culture can be concerning, it’s also a reminder to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with my audience.
Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not why not?

I do believe in aliens, of course! Haha.
What was your best experience on stage?
My best experience on stage was last January. I organized an event at Recyclart in Brussels and got to perform with a full band, which really gave another sound to my songs, making them more organic.
What was your worst experience on stage?
Recently, I had to sing next to a huge football screen during the World Cup and it was hard to get the public’s attention. But it was still fun in the end.
Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.
I have a master’s degree in gender violence and conflict resolution.
What are the next steps you plan to take as an artist to reach the next level?
As an artist, my next steps include promoting my new single “Corazón,” releasing my debut EP “Mosaïques” this autumn, and planning live performances to connect more directly with my audience. Additionally, I will continue to support local artists through my platform La Forestière.
I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.
My new single “Corazón” is a deeply personal song that pays homage to my Spanish roots and my family, especially my grandmother. It combines emotional vocals with reggaeton rhythms, creating a tender and vibrant anthem with a Spanish touch.
What was the recording process like?
I came up with the idea of the song years ago but I am not great at producing. During a residency last September, I sang it a cappella to Leo, and he directly understood the assignment. He had a lot of fun creating the track and in an afternoon it was all wrapped up.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
The biggest learning curve was finding the balance between honoring my cultural roots and creating a sound that resonates universally. It was a journey of self-discovery and artistic growth.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
I am very proud of “Corazón” as it stands. Every element of the song reflects my vision and the emotions I wanted to convey. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me so far. Stay tuned for the release of “Corazón” on July 16, 2024, and the music video on July 23. I’m excited to share more of my journey with you through my upcoming EP “Mosaïques” this autumn. Your support means the world to me, and I can’t wait to continue this musical adventure together.
