Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
All three of us have been playing music since we were very young (pre-teens) so making music has always been a part of who we are.
Introduce us to all of the members
Price Jones ~ Vocalist, rhythm guitar & composer
Stan Lassiter ~ Lead guitar
Bill Francis ~ Bass
The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?
If you’re able to do what you love in life then you’re doing great so we’re doing great!
We set up RGM USA and many other countries in the world to share music with America and the UK, good idea?
Absolutely… music connects people that otherwise have nothing in common and nowadays we really need to find more common ground in the world.
Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?
Price – We have a song on our upcoming EP that covers that question… it’s titled “Crime”. Fun song to play! So you’ll have to wait till our EP drops in Jan for the answer to that question HA!
Let’s share the love, what bands are doing really well in your Town / City?
Price – We are based out of Nashville and there are so many great players here! That being said I’ll mention a few new up & coming original local artists I’ve recently discovered on social media… Jax Hollow, Laney Jones, and this amazing 15-year-old up & coming guitarist Grace Bowers.
What advice would you give other artists starting out?
Be yourself and believe in yourself. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else can get on board. And practice practice practice! And then practice some more.
Did you buy anything you don’t need during the pandemic?
Price : Yes but honestly I wouldn’t know where to start.
What was the worst experience on stage?
Price – I played a gig in Japan years ago where I opened for a chimpanzee act. That being said, I LOVE Japan… I’d open for a monkey act again if that was my only option for a gig there lol
Stan – Once when I was opening for Eric Johnson, I literally couldn’t hear my guitar at all for the entire show.
Bill – Once someone threw a dead goat in the middle of an orchestra pit off a tall building during a live show.
Tell us something about each member that you think people would be surprised about?
Price ~ I was an urban search and rescue dog handler for TN Task Force 2 for a few years and I also create stone/light art!
Stan – I have 4 black belts & work on my kung fu more than I work on my music.
Bill – I enjoy restoring old cars
If you had to describe your band to an alien how would you describe it?
I’d tell the aliens they really need to experience our music in person and suggest they beam us up for the Roxercat Pearls Interdimensional Galaxy Tour!
What makes you stand out as a band?
We have our own sound. Stan is a genius guitar player who can play new amazing mind boggling guitar parts anytime he picks up a guitar. He’s a guitar legend around here. Price has her own distinct songwriting & vocal style that doesn’t sound like anyone else. Bill is this incredibly talented bass player that makes whoever he plays with sound better. We’ve taken our 3 talents and pooled them to create one unique band sound. I think after you’ve heard a couple of our songs and you hear a new Roxercat tune, you’ll know it’s us within the first 20 seconds or so.
I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.
Price – Pearls has been described as a melancholy tune and I would have to agree. It’s a reflection of how I feel about all my relationships past & present. And an overall view that you should always hold on to your dreams and appreciate the nuggets of good you find in your life’s journey.
Talk me through the thought process of the new tune/s.
Price – We had studio time coming up and needed one more song for the session. Pearls was actually a part of a longer more complicated tune but we hadn’t worked it up yet. It has lots of time signature & tempo changes… So I decided to pluck this section out and make it it’s own song. We needed a song we could play on the fly in the studio and this fit the bill.
What was the recording process like?
We cut the tracks at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville. Then overdubs were done at Cat Tracks Studio. Clarke Schleicher is an incredible engineer/producer and he really helped cultivate our process. Andy Peake played drums on this EP and rehearsed with us prior to the sessions. He’s as solid as they come and a great guy! The amazing Jeff Roach rocked the hammond.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Price writes all the songs. She’s been writing since she was a kid. Really no learning curve. She hears songs, they come to her. She describes it as plugging into the music universe and plucking out tunes she hears.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
Yes, always. And no, the songs are exactly the way they’re supposed to be.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Our next single “I Changed Today” drops Nov 18th!!!! The EP release is in Jan 2023!!!
We want to come to visit & play music for you in your part of the world so go listen to our tunes & tell all your friends & family about us so we can make that happen.
