What was life like for you before you got into music?
Wow I was a just a shorty going to school at Morgan Park HS Playing Basketball and making money. I been a musician since a kid tho I started out as a drummer my grandfather RIP Phil Salter had got me a drum set like at the age of 7 or 8 ? And My biological grandfather RIP Stanley Abernathy was lead Trumpet player for Bobby Blue band & B.B King, so music was always in my blood. I just wasn’t a full time songwriter & recording artist just yet, I was just being a kid living in the 100’s on the south side of Chicago (Roseland area)
What’s the live music scene like in your home town right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?
The music scene in LA is very cliquey a little bit like how back home in Chicago is. But I also love it out here cause it’s so many forms of different art when it comes to music not everyone does the same thing. I had the pleasure to meet alot of very talented producers, rappers, singers & engineers. Also it’s a lot of good underground shows that artist put together with there team to go too and catch a vibe.

It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this?
I mean it’s cool cause I guess it’s apart of marketing. But a lot of the times because of the algorithm you’re work won’t be seen. I’ve been editing my videos and doing content for a while so it never bothered me. But you also have to have some consistency to it if you really want to get noticed. I know artist that don’t want to post everyday or 3xs a day. Then I know artist who post everyday day or 3xs a day. What I don’t get as the times change people will get notice more doing stuff that’s not music related but there an artist. That’s when you have to question yourself like would you rather see me make a scene for views and likes then to promote my music?. Cause I thought as an artist it’s about the art and music not being a goofy but I guess it all falls under the entertainment side?
How do you manage engagement on your socials?
By just trying to stay consistent and engage with people through the comments or a message.
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
My views on the music industry tbh it’s like the WWE a very wild & exciting place. It’s a new artist of many different types competing to be the best in their genre.
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?
Tbh I feel separated cause I’m not like the rest that’s trying to fit in when it comes to sound. I just do me at then end of the day not trying to sound like this and not trying to sound like that.
What’s the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
Just because you finished a song doesn’t mean it’s finished. You can always go back to tighten it up, If it’s the lyrics or the hook. I hear and see a lot of artist go in the booth finish a song and be like (damn that’s cold I done made a hit) will when it comes to making a hit you have to invest $250,000 to $500,000 in marketing to determine that. I go after making timeless music that’s going to have some longevity behind the record
What was your best experience on stage?
My best experience on stage was being on the stage with my brothers “TREATED CREW” when we performed at pitchfork festival in 2014 for DJ Rashad RIP tribute set with Tek Life and when I did House Of Blues in Chicago for my big brother Tim Buck 2 Foundation concert
What was your worst experience on stage?
My worst experience was when me and my ex band partner Beans from Nick-n-Beans performed at Reggie’s for my bro Rockie Fresh debut big show. I smoked before the show and it was a fat ass blunt me and beans didn’t practice like that and I forgot my lyrics to a dope song called “You Can Have It All” I was looking crazy and very mad at myself the crowd was packed and we had a very big buzz behind us. I felt like I let my team down so bad.
Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.
That I recently stop smoking weed a couple of months ago. Just had to take a break I wanted to detox it’s not music related but if you know Junior you will be surprised lol
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
Yeah I have a lot of new music my catalog it’s pretty extensive tbh I just joined this syncing company (HDRV) so a lot of my music will be going towards syncing and I’m also creating more music for a future project next year . So me and the team are focused on releasing just singles right now.
What was the recording process like?
My recording process was to roll up and get to it.. now it’s getting to it. Playing the beat structuring a melody for the hook and verse then plugging in the lyrics. I love song writing if it’s for me or for someone else, my many therapy’s next to playing Basketball.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Make my imagination bigger, and go outside of the box more when it comes to writing.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
Naw I would never change anything cause how I started is how I got here today. I just became more focused with the art and business more.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
I just want to tell all the young creatives to keep going tbh. I’ve dealt with defamation and it sucks, it would mentally tear you down and have you wanting to stop creating. You gotta block out that hate and keep going, Nip always said don’t stop cause if you did you would never know where you will go. So just keep going and get a job hustling is cool scamming is not but when it comes to both the money gets dried up fast. Get a job stay down and put your money to your art especially when it comes to marketing. Do you wanna go to a shoe store and buy two pairs of shoes or do you wanna buy a whole wall in your size?
