PARIS IN LONDON

RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW PARIS IN LONDON

Hiya PARIS IN LONDON, thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.

What was life like for you before you got into music?

Honestly, I can’t remember. My whole life has pretty much been music. I literally used to make my family watch my mini concerts at the age of 5.

What’s the live music scene like in London right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?

I think live music in London is booming at the moment! We definitely have a lot of gems. I’ve been loving Vicky Trantou and I recently performed with Saasil on earth and her vocals were truly captivating.

It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this?

I think it’s a nice way to build your own community and really help your people find you. When I put music out, I always hope that people who resonate with the heart and soul of the song will find it and social media helps with that.

What’s your view on the Music industry today?

I think it’s the perfect time to be a dreamer in the music industry today. It’s so easy to back yourself as an independent artist today and get your music out there without a label. But it’s also the perfect time to make waves if you are trying to get that label attention.

What’s the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?

I’ve learned to lean into my authenticity and self-confidence. Both things have really elevated my live performances and song writing.

What was your best experience on stage?

I recently performed at Hoxton Underbelly to a crowd who were there for a rock band. As a result, they just were not interested in my sultry slow jams, these things happen when your up and coming. I managed to win them over with Mr. Right and by the end of the song, had the crowd singing along with me.

What was your worst experience on stage?

I got super sick before a show once and didn’t want to cancel, the show must go on! I pushed through but literally had a fever and the worst throat ache the whole time.

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

I’m actually names after 3 cities in total, my full name is actually Paris Geneva Rome. Shout out to my parents!

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

My new single BUTTER started as a love letter to myself but became a self-love anthem for anyone who needs it. I really wanted to write a song that made you feel good whenever you hear it, I think BUTTER is that.

What was the recording process like?

This was probably one of the quickest recording sessions that I’ve had in a while. I recorded the song at home as a demo first so when I got to the studio it was simple. I felt like something was missing so we layered the track with more brass instruments and then it felt ready.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

I started writing songs when I was about 10, the biggest learning curve for me is how different the story is now but also, how little has changed since writing songs at 10. I have my own style and that’s okay.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

I am guilty of being my own biggest critic and can always find things I would change but I can’t find that with my new song so I guess not.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Listen to the music with all of it’s layers and look out for the music video!
