RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW SCANDINAVIAN DUO MEGAFON

Introduce us to you / all to the members and your musical history.

MEGAFON is a duo. Marte Schau & Mikael Fleron.

Marte makes the text, sings, and plays accordion, and keys. Mikael is a gorgeous saxophone player, and masters a lot of different instruments and makes the productions.

They have been making music, food, and children for ages. They released their first album in 2008, called «Ammetåke» meaning the state you are in when you have a baby. «Amme» meaning breastfeeding and «tåke» means fog in Norwegian.

Neither Marte nor Mikael are from a musical family. Mikael parents being lawyers, Marte´s teachers, although Martes father should have been a pianist, he didn´t have the guts. Instead, he played for Marte every night when she was a child. Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, it was wonderful!

With family roots in the Rom people, Marte has been drawn to the sound of Balkan and India all her life. Even though her family neglected the Rom roots, Marte felt it in her blood. Mikael and Marte travelled to Bulgaria several times, learning the Bulgarian techniques for both song and saxophone.

«Not at all worried» has another flavour to it. A lighter and easier sound than their previous releases. Not so much from sound, but still it´s there, underlying it all.

The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?

For us, music is a lifestyle. A way we communicate with each other. We suck at PR, so we´re not in it for the money. Nor the fame, but still we love to play live! So invite us, and we will come and blow your socks off!

We set up RGM USA and many other countries in the world (Now RGM DENMARK)to share music with America and the UK, good idea?

Yes! Wonderful idea! Our music needs a much bigger audience than the small nordic countries.

Let’s share the love, what bands are doing really well in your Town / City?

There´s e a lot of great acts in Copenhagen and Denmark! We have the folk band «Viik», with our good friend, the singer, Elisabeth Vik in front with power and sweetness.

«Optur» Mikaels other act, playing Nordic Free Folk. «Klingra» a classical/folk ensemble with Kim Nybergs wonderful compositions.

What was the recording process like?

We borrowed a house with a great view over the Oslofjord in Norway. There we did nothing else but music. We had our loopers going and little by little this song was born.

Inspired by each other and building the song together. Like a painting or a sculpture.

We love to make music like this. Opening to the Universe and letting what is coming, come into the physical world.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

To let go. Of the ideas of who we are, and what we do. The sound is different, the words are different, more smooth, and more friendly.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Breathe, smile, dance!

When you smile, your body sends messages to your brain saying; Hey We´re happy now! Juhhuuu rejoice!!

And that’s what we should do! Love is the only way in this world.
