What made you decide to start the band?

We’re all childhood friends and love to rock so one day we thought let’s give it a proper go, all in.

Introduce us all to the members and your musical history?

Harry – Drums learnt to play as youngun following his dad who also rocks the kit

Louis – axe & Alex – bass & vocals both started playing when we saw tenacious D pick of destiny for the first time in 2008

Whats one question you’re sick of being asked when interviewed?

Probably the first two ahah

What’s your favourite song right now from another band currently on your local circuit?

Loving wasted time by Candid atm but our good pals the assist are releasing an album soon, we’ve heard sneak peaks and it’s mega

What support is out there for new artists in Birmingham ?

We went through MAS records in the early days, they’ll helped a lot with studio time and mentoring. Birmingham has a great music scene, lots of friendly people

and good promoters to get gigs.

Who is inspiring you at the minute on the Birmingham unsigned scene?

Well, to many to talk about really. Fresh on the mind comes the likes of Brainfood, Jackie, Big sky orchestra, glass ceilings to name a few.

What would you like to see more of in Birmingham?

2 for 1 cocktails

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?

Not really don’t think we can be arsed for it. But the queens defo a lizard

What useless party trick /talent do you have?

Standing in the kitchen for record lengths of time

What was the most fun you have had on stage?

Playing a sold out home town show at the dark house and having the crowd bouncing, signing our new single at the time ‘Kid’

What was the worst experience on stage?

Lou forgetting how to play our most known song, everyone else thought it was quite funny

Tell us something about each member that you think people would be surprised about?

Alex writes songs while on the toilet, Harry drinks the brine out the tuna tin and louis doesn’t believe in paracetamol

If you had to describe your band to an alien how would you describe them?

They should know cause our music is out of this world

Which one of the band is the most unpredictable and why?

Alex has tendency to get really into something and then drop it, who knows what he’ll pick up next.

Which one of the band is the biggest nightmare? (Just a bit of fun)

Harry cause he’s always late and never answers the phone (typical drummer)

You have one phone call and you have been locked up for a crime you didn’t commit? Which member would you call first?

Definitely not Harry

I see you have a big gig coming up at the dead wax in November, how much are you looking forward to it?

Gonna be a great show, we’re releasing a new single and music video so we’re ready to party. 12th Novembercome down if you’re local

What can we expect from your live show?

Honest rock and roll and good times

How do we get tickets?

Check our socials @flakebrum the link will be there or visit our website flakebrum.com

I hear you have a new single brewing, what can you tell us about it?

Our new single Charlie is about that annoyance in your life that you can never quite get rid of

Talk me through the thought process of the single/album?

Most of the time Alex or Louis will come with an idea and everyone adds their own spice

What was the recording process like?

We love being in the studio, atm we’re working Ryan from RML studios. We can’t wait to get back in their to record EP in late Feb.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single/album?

Don’t overcomplicate things, most people just want catchy tunes. If you think it’s good, then it’s probably good

Would you change anything now its finished?

Don’t like to think like that really, we think of it as that’s how we sounded at the time.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Back in the studio in late feb for the EP and more exciting things in the works. Remember to be kind to each other and stream our music
