THE BRACKNALL

RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW THE BRACKNALL WHAT HAPPENED?

Hiya The Bracknall thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?*

We were all shit at school and various made up injuries robbed us all of football careers. So I don’t think there was ever anything else. We lied to people for years about being in a band so we were backed into a corner really.

What’s the live music scene like in Romford right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (Bar you of course).

There isn’t really a music scene anymore, it’s pretty dead but we’ve got a group of pals who all went into music as well. Bands like Grungers, The Milk, Death Of Guitar Pop are all from round our way. We’ve got a really creative bunch of mates. Rishi stage manages for Blur and Gorillaz and our good friend Brick is a film director. You’ll see his work in our latest music video for ‘Make It Happen’ which is mega!

I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?

Who knows, we’ve never bothered worrying about it really. You can either moan about some fat A&R bloke not sticking his head into your show with 12 people there or get your head down and build it yourself. Obviously, the days of rockstars drinking whisky in limos is over. Just do it in a Ford focus.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

We don’t claim to reinvent the wheel. It’s just good British rock and roll music. It looks back to a day when it ruled the charts when it was king. Not sure too many bands are trying to write big guitars and big melodies anymore. Bit caught up in 4-minute didgeridoo solos in French. So maybe we fit there. Maybe we don’t.

Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.

A lie would be that we are from Bracknell. We’d never ever heard of it

*Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture

Discuss*

Not really, we’re from the last generation before that happened. We’re not clued up enough in what you can’t say to ever worry about it. Intent and context is everything ain’t it and we’re lovers. So no one could ever tell us what we’re meant to say. Just don’t be a dickhead?

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not why not?

Have you ever seen Richard Ashcroft and God in the same room?

What was your best experience on stage?

Our last tour was pretty amazing. Sold out up and down the country. Rough trade in Nottingham was a bit special. Tiny sweaty room with everyone as into it as we were. That’s gold

What was your worst experience on stage?

My voice went in Glasgow. Found a note only the dogs could hear. Got to laugh tho ain’t ya

Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.

Dan our drummer was a UK motocross champion when he was 12

Me and Harry are brothers. Noel Gallagher’s birthday is 29th May, Harry’s is 30th. Liam’s birthday is 21st September, mine is 22nd. A day apart for both, someone do the maths on our destiny.

Ed is in a battle rap documentary

What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?

We’ve just finished up our next record which we recorded in Glasgow with Chris Marshall. He did the Gerry Cinnamon records. It’s a big step for us sonically. Then gig it, promote It and watch it grow. We’ve levelled up on the music videos too.

I hear you have a new music, what can you tell us about it.

The single is called ‘Make It Happen’. It’s the first single off the new record out next year. It’s just a good old fashioned British rock and roll guitar tune. Soon to have kids jumping up and down in a city near you.

What was the recording process like?

Recorded it on a farm in Manchester. It was a vibe man. Can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend?

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

I think we used to try and force it. Now we’re just open to what falls out. Take what the universe gives ya and run with it. We wrote the full record in about 10 weeks and just didn’t try and make it something specific. Now it sounds specifically the bollocks.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

Not a drop. Don’t mess with perfection

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

We’re playing our biggest gig to date at the Electric Ballroom in London on 29th November. Going to be immense.
