What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
I was introduced to music at a young age by my parents. I used to love going through their vinyl collection. I got hooked and have never looked back.
Introduce us to you all and your musical history.
I am Gee and I play bass. I’ve been in bands since I was 14. I’ve been a singer, guitarist and Bassist. I’ve played everything from Indie to thrash metal.
What’s the live music scene like in Glasgow right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?
The music scene is pretty healthy just now. I live just outside Glasgow and there is plenty of grassroots venues. There is something for every taste. Some of the bands worth checking out just now are Catalysis & Ruled By Raptors but honestly there’s so many thriving bands
I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?
The biggest issue is selling tickets in advance. Since covid nobody seems to want to commit. The issue is that promoters will pull gigs if there is a lack of sales so they don’t lose money. Most people these days just want to pay at the door and sadly it doesn’t help the bands or venue.
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?
We kind of fit in anywhere. We are Alt-rock, grunge, and punk with a sprinkle of metal.
Tell us two truths and a lie about you.
The debut album has taken 20+ years to complete
Jamie has supported Incubus
This is the original lineup
Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….
With our guitarist James..yes lol Only joking James. Honestly, we couldn’t care less. Cancel culture needs to be cancelled.
Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not, why not?
We don’t but James could write books on the subject. We even call him conspirajimi.
What was your best experience on stage?
For me it was a gig we played at Banshees Labyrinth in Edinburgh. It’s a really small venue and the crowd are right in your face and that night they went mental. It was so much fun,
What was your worst experience on stage?
It’s hard to say as I usually have a great time but I think gigs where the crowd are just flat.
Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.
I am a qualified Goalkeeping coach
What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?
We will release our debut album this month. This year we plan to play as much as we can around the UK in support of the album as well as trying to get on as many support slots and festivals as possible.
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
The album has been a long time coming, We are really proud of it. I think there is something for everyone on it. I really think people will love it.
What was the recording process like?
Scott and Jamie own Ellis Studios in Irvine so we have our own studio which meant we could take our time to get it right. I had a great time getting the bass parts down.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
That’s a question for Jamie and James as they wrote the songs before I joined. They wrote most of the songs in the 2000s. I have brought my own bass style to them.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
I don’t think I would.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Just buy the album and come see us in a town or city near you soon. Thanks so much for your support
