RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW TREKKS

Hiya Trekks Huncho, thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

I’ve loved music ever since I could put words together. I remember being 6/7 years old I used to take all the kitchen tissue off the roll, use the tube as mic rapping in front of my Mums mirror. It was just always for me.

Introduce us to you all and your musical history.

I wrote my first song when I was 10. It was a remix to Tinie Tempah’s Written in the stars and I had to perform it as the lead singer in my primary school leavers assembly in front of the whole school. It felt natural. I wasn’t even nervous. After that though I didn’t write another rap until I was 15. Couple of my friends had started rapping at our local youth centre and they kept telling me I should start so I did. But it wasn’t till 2020 when I would release my first single Money Moves which would go on to do quite well and that’s when I decided to pursue a career in music. Now hear I am 8 singles and 1 mixtape later still just warming up. Heartbreak Huncho the mixtape out now.

What’s the live music scene like in (London/ NW London right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?

I don’t really pay attention to anyone else I feel like i’m the next up in my hood in my city, so this is where the focus should be

I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?

I think everyone’s trying to copy each others wave so it’s hard to stand out, you just gotta play it different, have your own style about you, your own lane.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

At the bottom of the chain, I ain’t done nothing yet but i’m steady working. Ask me in a year I guess.

Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….

Not really cause I try to be rational.

What was your best experience on stage?

My first performance, seeing people there to hear my music is a great feeling.

What are the next steps you plan to take to reach the next level?

Stay working hard, plan my goals, stay consistent and build a team who are all on the same page.

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

Heartbreak Huncho the mixtape it’s my first project with some of the best music I ever made. The overall concept of the mixtape is based around Heartbreak, but written from both perspectives, as the heartbreaker and the heartbroken one.

What was the recording process like?

The recording process came to me based off how I was feeling at different moments of my life in the last few years. Whenever something good or bad happens to me I find a way to express it through my artistry.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

I didn’t have much issue writing plus I freestyle a lot. It was a fun process. The biggest learning curve was probably just taking so long to put it out.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

Yeah I’d swap ‘back to back’ for ‘Hunchoskii’ my single that dropped a week before the tape & probably add 2 more songs on there.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

The Deluxe is on the way, shows on the way and so much more but for now keep streaming Heartbreak Huncho, it’s HEARTBREAKGANG4L.
