Hiya Vittorio, thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.
What was life like for you before you got into music?
I have build my own business which I still manage, here in the USA, focusing on consumer analytics for Fortune 100 companies. At age 44 I started to learn guitar, my first instrument ever, and in 2020 started to write songs.
What’s the live music scene like in Minneapolis right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?
Very lively, especially in the summer with great outdoor music festivals
It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this?
I am still leaning and finding extremely time consuming
How do you manage engagement on your socials?
I focus on IG and YT, trying to build followers on Spotify but that is harder
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
Democratization is great, everyone has access, but a bit of a learning curve to see how to prioritize different ways to promote my music
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?
I am a very late bloomer, very early stages, I have released about 7 songs but over 30 more on the pipeline, and many music videos that have received good reviews, still very unclear how far my music can go
Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
that given my goals, of having my music be heard by as many people as possible, learning how to promote it efficiently is painful but important
What was your best experience on stage?
Performing with the full band for the opening of the Italian film festival in Minneapolis this past February
What was your worst experience on stage?
Nothing too traumatic to report 😊
Tell us something about you think people would be surprised about.
That I have been a business man through out my life, building a successful fimr that is still growing, I am 53 today, at the age of 44 I did not know how to play any instruments, at the age of 49 I still did not know that I had it in me to write songs – quite a pivot. Also, I have traveled to 44 countries, covering over 1/3rd of the world population
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
My latest release, Lost in Space, is the first song I ever wrote, it deals with my divorce, so wanted to wait a few years to arrange and release, it has a beautiful animation music video, check it out on you tube, search for Lost in Space by Vittorio and the Bridges. My next release, coming up on May 27th, is called Adderall and deals with the issue of drugs over prescription in the USA – we are producing a great music video for it that will come up in early June
What was the recording process like?
I work with a producer that also plays some of the instruments, calling session players when needed. His name is JJ Benson, we work great together, a great experience to be in a recording studio, all still new to me
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Many things. I guess the pronunciations when I write in English is the biggest challenge for me, as I want my audience to understand my music
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
Perhaps Adderall could be a bit more radio friendly by eliminating the pink Floyd style intro but I consider it an integral part of the song
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
My original music bridges cultures, generations, geographies, which is why my artist name is Vittorio and the Bridges.
