RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW YORKSHIRE BAND MODERN PROBLEMS

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

Thanks for having us!

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

I think for us all growing up music was a important way of self expression and making friends. Did I also mention its really really fun?

Introduce us you / all to the members and your musical history?

We Comprise of Adam Wright who handles Drumming and Vocals Simultaneously, Steve Regan on Keys and Vocals, Tom Rodger on Guitar and Ryan Gures on Bass

What was life like for you before music?

Mainly just Nintendo gamecube and sunny delight, for Steve he was taking the Wakefield night club scene by storm

What was the first song you heard that steered you into a music path?

A certain song is tricky but all of us grew up with the beatles so they would most likely be the main culprits of inspiration

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

As relative newcomers we see ourselves at the starting point in the industry, I guess upcoming would cover it!

Whats the biggest thing you have learned from someone else in the industry?

To Enjoy yourself and not take things too seriously. If your not enjoying playing together you are doing something wrong.

Tell us Two truths and a lie about you?

We auditioned a singer who turned out to be a Elvis impersonator and 64

We wrote a Sitcom pilot about two members owning a BnB in Blackpool

We once had a massive bust up after two members went to get burgers without telling the other two

If you could wish for one thing to aid your career what would it be? A a white van man, available on call 24/7 to move gear, if he knows his way around some decent veggie recipes thats also a bonus

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If no why not?

We all subscribe to the theory that Ryan our bass player is actually a middle aged woman who uses the band as a form of release from his mundane family life

What was the worst experience on stage?

Thankfully nothing bad for us, however we played in a previous band together and after sound checking at a show, we started the set and the sound engineers desk malfunctioned causing all the monitors on stage to screech, it took a while to get to sleep after that one.

Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about?

We are all LEGO collectors and often can be found discussing upcoming lego sets outside of our music making duties

What makes you stand out as a band/artist?

Not many Punk bands can be found building Lego Lord of the rings sets in their spare time

I hear you have a new music, what can you tell us about it.

Longevity is our debut single, we love playing it and it was straightforward to write and record. It just feel like the most natural first step into getting our name out there.

What was the recording process like?

As mentioned previous, straightforward. We worked with Jack Howarth at The Warren who we recorded with in our last band, so we were able to go in and get the song tracked pretty smoothly

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

We all take a stab at vocals, taking it in turns writing lyrics and melodies, this was something totally new to us so it was a massive challenge in getting our voices to sound half decent. however after nearly a year of practice things have never been better. Adam is also receiving vocal tuition which is helping him develop his voice

Would you change anything now its finished?

We scrutinise ourselves alot in writing and recording so when it comes to releasing something we can say that we put everything into it, so were quite happy with how it turned out!

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

We’ve got some more stuff releasing in the next few months including a project were very excited about, stay tuned!
