RGM Recommends – The Singles

SHADER – True To Life

This month has seen North West based indie rockers, SHADER, release their 3rd single of the year, ‘True To Life’. The track is a stunning follow up to the bands previous releases, featuring tuneful guitar riffs and catchy lyrics, written about the ‘self-entitled generation’, which are destined to be stuck in your head for hours. Accompanying the release of ‘True To Life’, SHADER have also released the music video for the track, recorded at the iconic 42nd Street Nightclub in Manchester.

Charles – Easy.

North London’s Charles has recently released a new single, ‘Easy’, the lead track to be taken from his upcoming EP, ‘On-trend, Hungry & Broke.’ ‘Easy’ sees Charles explore the ever-evolving relationship between a parent and child. Charles bends genres and influences magnificently, using candid lyrics to really push his message home, he has been inspired by music since a very early age, and used ‘Easy’ to give his parents a ‘song to listen to and chill out.’ Charles’ new EP, ‘On trend, Hungry & Broke’ is available now.

ToyQueens – You & I.

‘You & I’ is the second track to be released by ToyQueens, it follows on from the release of his debut single ‘Miss That Mind’ which received heaps of love from listeners. ‘You & I’ is upbeat and warm and helps ToyQueens to cement the unique sound he created with his debut. The track showcases ToyQueens’ emotional lyrics and sees him draw on his inlfuences, yet it would have been even better to see ToyQueens broaden his palette even further.

INEGO – Departures

Manchester’s INEGO are set to release their debut album, ‘Departures’, on Thursday. The release of ‘Departures’ follows on from a string of singles, which have helped the band to rally up support, and momentum ahead of this release. ‘Departures’ showcases INEGO’s funky sound from the offset, and it’s destined to get your toes tapping. Singles such as ‘I Need Your Love’ and ‘Phoenix Arizona’ add familiarity to the table. The layout of tracklisting of the album seems jolty, yet for a debut album INEGO have spotlighted their talents well.

Since the release of their debut single, ‘Favourite Thing’, back in December 2019, HI SIENNA have evolved their image and sound bringing them to the release of their latest single, ‘Be A Man’ earlier this month. ‘Be A Man’ is powerful and assertive, it discusses past experiences within relationships, whether it be with partners, family members or even politicians. ‘Be A Man’ also highlights often taboo topics such as emotional abuse and control, adding emotion to its lyrics. HI SIENNA are destined for a bright future with their relatable lyrics and gorgeous instrumentation.
