Marrow Lane – Alison

Following on from the release of their debut EP, Time In Motion, Australia’s Marrow Lane have returned with their latest single, ‘Alison’. The track is a punchy, blistering, sun-soaked slice of indie rock, reminiscent of Jet. There can be many different meanings taken from this track, yet ‘Alison’ is a substance of love, always there. ‘Alison’ sees Marrow Lane show developed song-writing skills and enhanced musicianship. Taken from their forthcoming, second EP, Marrow Lane are not set to slow down any time soon.

Jess Kemp – Leave A Chair Out

Manchester’s own, Jess Kemp, has released her festive single, ‘Leave A Chair Out’, earlier this month. Following on from a string of successful releases, including play on BBC Introducing Manchester, Radio X and BBC Radio 2, ‘Leave A Chair Out’ sees Jess excel. A comforting nod towards the festive season, ‘Leave A Chair Out’ is written about losing and missing a loved one and noticing the gap around the table at Christmas. The track offers a hug to those who need it, a touching, emotive piece.

Edited People – Dream Chaser

Leeds based, alt-pop band, Edited People are set to release their new single, ‘Dream Chaser’ early next month. Inspired by the likes of Yonaka and Billie Eilish, ‘Dream Chaser’ sees Edited People start 2021 off with a bang, the track holds a catchy chorus and unique instrumentation which listeners will be destined to fall for. The vocals displayed on ‘Dream Chaser’ are enticing and often haunting, leaving the listener captivated. 2020 has been a massive year for Edited People, seeing their release ‘Natural Disaster’ get showered in love. It is going to be exciting to see how Edited People perfect their already unique sound in 2021.

Malcura – Malcura II

Australia’s Malcura have recently released their new album, ‘Malcura II’, featuring insane musicianship and incredible instrumentation. Almost exclusively made up of flamenco guitars, drums and a bass, the band use ambient vocals to really leave a lasting impression. Whilst listening to ‘Malcura II’, you can tell that the band have had hours of fun making it, the album holds a variety of different moods and feels almost like a carnival. Stand out tracks like ‘The Little Ox’ and ‘The Ballad of the Humble Space Jockey’ see the band convey melancholy tones with huge climaxes.

YAANG – Security Dave

Salford based electronic duo, YAANG have recently shared their newest single, ‘Security Dave’. ‘Security Dave’ was written by member Davey Moore, who used the track to personify the mindset he had when working as a security guard and the person he had to emulate in his role. Intriguing and interesting instrumentation pair wonderfully with the lyrical storytelling here. ‘Security Dave’ has a street fighter-esque music video to accompany it. 2021 looks bright for YAANG.
