Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus has just dropped the final names for its 2026 line-up and, frankly, it’s shaping up to be one of the most stacked Bank Holiday weekends the city’s seen in years. If you thought they’d already played their best cards with The Kooks, Milburn, Miles Kane, The Streets, Wunderhorse and Richard Ashcroft, think again. The festival has now revealed its final wave of artists, with Babyshambles, Casisdead, The Clause and Gurriers leading the charge as the Big Top prepares to return to Don Valley Bowl this August.
Let’s start with the headline-grabber. Babyshambles are back, and Peter Doherty returning to Rock N Roll Circus feels like a bit of unfinished business. The Libertines man has history with the festival already – appearing during its Newcastle debut in 2022 before popping up in Sheffield in 2025 for an acoustic set with Carl Barât. This time though, it’s the full Babyshambles experience, bringing one of British indie’s most chaotic and unpredictable bands back into the circus tent.
Doherty himself summed it up pretty well, saying there’s something about the whole Rock N Roll Circus world that sticks with you. And he’s not wrong. This isn’t just another festival field with a stage and a few overpriced pints. The Big Top setting gives it a weirdly intimate feel for a festival this size, and that slightly surreal circus energy makes it stand out in a calendar absolutely rammed with live music events.
Joining Babyshambles on the Friday bill are UK rap’s masked enigma Casisdead, whose dystopian storytelling and cinematic beats have made him one of the most distinctive voices in British hip hop. Also stepping up that night are genre-hopping songwriter Hak Baker, Irish alt riser KhakiKid and Sheffield’s own Ellur, giving the Friday line-up a bit of stylistic chaos in the best possible way.
Across the rest of the weekend, Rock N Roll Circus is continuing its habit of mixing heritage acts with a new generation of bands trying to make their mark. Thursday’s opening night – already huge thanks to The Kooks playing Inside In / Inside Out in full alongside Milburn and Miles Kane – now also welcomes Spanish Horses. The band features Albert Cocker, son of Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, bringing a bit of Sheffield music lineage into the mix.
They’ll be joined by Cruz Beckham and The Breakers, making their first festival appearance of the year. Yes, that Beckham. But rather than just riding on a famous surname, the project is leaning heavily into Britpop-inspired guitars, so it’ll be interesting to see how that one lands in front of a proper indie crowd.
Elsewhere on the Thursday bill, rising indie outfit The Clause join the line-up alongside Australian surf-tinged band Day We Ran and newcomers The Kairos.
Saturday is arguably where things get seriously exciting for fans of modern guitar music. Wunderhorse headline the day, cementing their rise as one of the UK’s most talked-about bands, with Baxter Dury, English Teacher and the chaotic brilliance of Fat Dog also appearing. Add Gurriers, Basht. and The Molotovs – three bands currently tearing up the live circuit – and it becomes one of the strongest single-day line-ups the festival’s put together.
Sunday closes things out with Richard Ashcroft at the top of the bill, supported by The Fratellis, Cast and now Embrace. Sheffield favourites Everly Pregnant Brothers also join the closing day, bringing a bit of hometown humour and chaos to the proceedings. Villanelle, fronted by Gene Gallagher, adds another thread of musical heritage to the weekend.
Of course, Rock N Roll Circus has always been about more than just the music. Alongside the bands, the site fills up with circus performers, aerialists, fire displays and roaming theatre, turning the whole thing into something closer to a travelling spectacle than a standard festival.
With the full line-up now locked in, Rock N Roll Circus Sheffield 2026 looks set to be a huge one. Four days, multiple generations of British music, and a Big Top full of noise in the middle of a Sheffield summer.
Rock N Roll Circus takes place at Don Valley Bowl from 27–30 August 2026. Tickets and full information are available at rocknrollcircus.co.uk.
