ROSELLAS

ROSELLAS WERE UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONS IN BRISTOL – WHAT WENT DOWN?

South Mancunian outfit Rosellas are in full E.P. touring mode. They’re back stronger than ever in 2026 with their latest E.P. Shadow Dancing due out May 2026. They’ve been playing the E.P. in full as well as all the classic tracks you know and love across two unique tours. Throughout March, fans had the opportunity to listen to the songs in intimate acoustic settings before moving to the full electric Shadow Dancing tour.

Ahead of their big hometown headliner at the iconic Band On The Wall, Rosellas saw a return to Bristol with locally chosen supports from The False Idols and Truck. Three piece The False Idols kicked things off with their debut in Bristol. Originally from Swansea but now located in Bristol, this was their time to make their mark in their new hometown. They don’t currently have any songs out on Spotify but have already garnered loyal fans who knew the words to their tracks. With a gloomy, atmospheric feel, nice acoustic guitar tones and groovy leading guitar riffs, they delivered a variety of tracks with ‘Call My Life’ being a particular highlight. They’ll be ones to watch when they start to officially release music.

Hailing from Cheltenham, Truck took to the stage to bring a distinct hybrid of indie, country and emo music. Guitarists Jamie Carney and Dominic Watton had a dual fronting partnership with jangly guitars characterising their songs. The crowd were treated to their latest single ‘A Little Bit Of Love’ featuring bouncing melodies, layered vocals and groovy drums. They also teased their new E.P. which is coming soon so keep an eye out for that Truck fans! They closed out their set with the most rogue cover of ‘Enter Sandman’ I have ever heard. Take one of the most classic metal tracks ever, douse it in country music and you had Truck’s unique spin on the song.

Opening with sparkly guitars, comforting vocals and neat drumming rhythms, Rosellas commanded the stage under the bright red lights starting with ‘Surrounded by the Light.’ Rosellas are releasing their newest E.P. Shadow Dancing in May and they’ve been playing it in full. The first single from this E.P. they played next was ‘Beautiful Lonely’ with frontman Drew Selby adapting his vocals to match the emotional, fragile nature of the lyrics about needing more as well as playing a brilliant short but sweet guitar solo. The crowd were then treated to the title track ‘Shadow Dancing’ and if you haven’t had chance to hear it live yet you’re missing out because the chorus was catchy with a great bass line from Ollie Appleby. Also, I couldn’t not mention his bass guitar, the paisley pattern was amazing.

‘(I’m In Love With A) Songbird’ was up next and this track had an unexpected element of a swaggering Stone Roses style intro riff and a very heavy chorus. The ensemble of guitars from Selby and rhythm guitarist Euan Mail sounded brilliant in the full electric set up with the clever use of the tremolo arm throughout. Selby commented on the weather always being really sunny in Bristol, that’s just the southwest hospitality, we love our Manc bands down here!

‘Same Curse’ brought a quicker change of pace with a funky drum line from Luis Sullivan. The build up in the second verse with the slow reintroduction of each instrument was really gripping to watch and showed how clean and put together Rosellas are. The bridge felt like a flight right across the sky and was so soothing to be carried by. ‘Better Love’ was next as the latest offering from the E.P. having just come out the week before. This took on a truly psychedelic feel with those sparkly guitar riffs and sensitive vocals that had the crowd swaying along. My highlight of the night was their track ‘Switch Off’, bringing the attitude, intense drumbeats and an anthemic chorus to really grip the room.

The transition from ‘Switch Off’ to ‘Born Under A Cloud’ was blended by a fierce drum solo from Sullivan. The contrast from this to the softer bouncing melodies of the track made for a diverse sound. ‘Damaged’ and ‘Common Ground’ were the last two tracks of the night. The blend of the dancing guitar riffs with the pulsating bass in ‘Damaged’ reverberated throughout the room before the electrifying ‘Common Ground’ closed out the night with interchanging vocal tempos blending into the guitar driven wall of sound to blow the people away. Rosellas were on fire that night showing they are back more than ever and with the E.P. being played in full, it is definitely an E.P the fans can get excited for to show their progression and psychedelic indie blends.
