Sound City Social : An event for the Music people of Sheffield
Thursday 21st November sees the first Sound City Social incorporating a regional event from The Association of Independent Music to take place in Sheffield – backed by Taylor&Emmet, Sheffield Music Board, Sheffield Creative Guild and Music Local.
The event, at Sheffield’s central Ambulo, will open with an AIM Academy panel of music industry professionals discussing how to run a successful independent music business. This will be followed by an AIM Social – an opportunity for the music community of Sheffield to come together, meet new people and catch up with old friends.
Hosted by BBC Music Introducing’s Adam Winch-Furness, the panel will consist of Dave Sanderson (producer), Laura McClure (Reverend & The Makers, tour manager), Janine Morton (Morton Bradley accountants) and Emily Moxon (Brownswood Recordings), who will talk about their work, successes and offer practical advice on how to build an independent music business.
John Tunnard of Taylor&Emmet said, “It is so important that we not only recognise, but also support, the wealth of professional music makers here in the City and surrounding area. The idea of the event is to facilitate a network of industry professionals to engender collaboration and creative opportunities which can only be a positive thing for the local music industry.”
The event complements the newly established, Sheffield Music Board and builds on years of successful professional music in Sheffield.
