Swans are coming to Manchester this summer as part of their 2023 UK tour. Albert Hall are delighted to be hosting the American experimental rock group, Swans on the 12th of August!
Formed in 1982 by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira. One of the few acts to emerge from the New York City-based no-wave scene and stay intact into the next decade. Swans have become recognized for an ever-changing sound. The band explore genres such as noise rock, post-punk, industrial, and post-rock.
Expect a lengthy set of ear-splitting, brooding and maniacally mesmerising sound from a band who hold no punches when it comes to impact. Lead singer Michael Gira is a presence alone, and when united with his bandmates the chaos will endure. An intense night of mind blowing proportions is on the cards, and the gothic surroundings of Albert Hall is the ideal place to host such shenanigans. It will be loud!
The band will no doubt be playing tracks from their most recent album ‘The Beggar’. Released last month on Gira’s own label ‘Young God Records’. This will be the bands’ 16th studio album. The album was written and produced by Michael Gira. It features contributions from recent and former Swans, members of Angels of Light, as well as Guest Swan Ben Frost.
