Hailing from Kent’s Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone, The Gallerys are the trio that everyone needs in their collection. After exploding onto the UK music circuit in 2017, the powerhouse trio have been excelling in the Britpop and indie world which has even gained them attention from BBC Introducing, Fred Perry Subculture and This Feeling.
While gaining support slots and sharing the stage with acts such as Louis Berry, Madness, The Sherlocks, Dr. Feelgood to name a few, it’s about time The Gallerys get their own spotlight. Returning with their exhilarating single “On the Other Side”, it’s got all the nutrients in it to be an indie cult classic.
About forgetting your problems by having a good time, the ‘other side’ is the place we all know and feel when we’ve had a few drinks and feel invincible. Everything seems like it’s through rose tinted glasses as we forget our problems. Written by Craig Barden and arranged by The Gallerys, the track was recorded at Squarehead Studios in Sittingbourne, Kent. Engineer and mixed by James Simpson, and mastered by Kristofer Harris. At times, the guitar feels overpowering and takes the shine out of the vocals.
As a little bit of constructive criticism, it would be to tone that sound down ever so slightly to really hear the vocals sine through. As for the tracks meaning, it’s feel-good nature glows with positivity, you just may have a sore head from alcohol the next day! Overall, a wonderful number from a band that’s gained a new fan in me!
