Salford’s agle Inn has been home to many a fantastic band over the years and over the weekend I was privy enough to find myself listening to two bands who deserve, nay, WILL go far. Tonight brought to us by Manchester promoter “In Your Ears Music”
The Heavy North were a group made up of four men who put together sounded like a tight closed unit with the exciting bass lines, thundering drums and vibrato that would give Andrea Bocelli a run for his money. The music was excellently worked and the band performed and had a stage presence that worked really well. Crowd interaction was funny as well without being distracting to the music as this was priority. I urge anyone to go see this band as I assure you, you won’t be disappointed.
The Hazy Janes came on shortly after and were an instant hit. Clearly people in the know were excited to see them as they were met with applause and shouting as they first walked on stage and I can’t say I blame them. From the quirky boiler suits to the stunning melodies, this band were here for a reason.
To display new material and boy, it didn’t disappoint. We were graced with a heavy opening number after heavy number. The band took a short pause and the drummer simply asked ” Do you want more heavy stuff or slow stuff? The crowd roared and we were met with a very clean but albeit louder cover of T-rex’s 20th Century Boy. The crowd sang along and I must admit, my foot was tapping and I was singing with them.
These guys were infectious. Slower material prevailed and the gig slowed down but the energy amazingly, remained a constant. Slowly but surely the gig came to a close and I was sad to see the band walk off stage. I could of easily enjoyed another hour of their material. But all good things must come to an end.
Overall a great experience with great company and even greater music. I Would highly recommend. I urge everyone to check these bands out as they will go far.
