Piccadilly records once again played a blinder with their live events, again using friendly neighbors Night and Day cafe to host a gloriously gloomy and spellbinding set by rock band The Horrors.
Playing as a three-piece, the band, the band had sold out the venue in record time as fans piled in and flocked to the front of the stage, some already fairly inebriated as they awaited the 8pm start. Tensions rose and excitement grew as the band walked onto the stage to incredibly loud cheers.
Bass player Rhys Webb started to light incense and the stage filled with the pungent scent of Jasmine. The scene was set and the band kicked off with ‘Mirror’s Image’. Lead singer Faris Badwan encompassed in a gloomy blue light as he passionately sang out the lyrics to this dramatic song. This evening saw newest member of the band Amelia Sinclair on synth which rounded off the three piece beautifully.
The crowd were singing along and clearly very taken with Badwan, as screams were emitted as soon as he made any kind of movement on stage. The New LP ‘Night Life’ released only last week has received rave reviews and is their first album in eight years. The set was shorter than usual as it was of course a show to showcase their new album which is seven tracks in total.
The band have a busy schedule ahead of them with a European tour and a spot at the well curated Dot to Dot festival in May. Last week the band announced that they will be doing a longer UK tour and returning to Manchester to play New Century Hall in November. So if you were unlucky to miss out on Wednesday’s gig, try your luck at this larger venue! More details of their tour and festival appearances can be found below.
