The Radio Addicts have a very youthful sound, which is understandable because of their ages, and it’s hard not to be impressed by a band so young, but this is something that shouldn’t define them. What should define them is how completely original their track, ‘Let’s Party Like It’s the 90’s’ is. It just feels fresh and like it isn’t really influenced by any other artists, which is somewhat rare in modern music. They also don’t sound too mature for their age, which really grounds the song.
The lyrics are simple, telling an equally simple story of trying to find the courage to strike up conversation with someone, presumably at a party where they are partying ‘like it’s the 90’s’- which is quite ironic as the band wouldn’t have been born then. However, they are clearly nostalgic for a time they don’t know, which is a message that will resonate with anyone of a similar age, but also anyone older will appreciate the callback to such a legendary time of partying.
In terms of the actual factors within the track, the vocals are an interesting mix of punchy, whilst also being quite wordy. It is incredible how some of the lines, particularly in the verses, actually fit alongside the instrumentation.
The ending is pretty repetitive, consisting of the main hook of the song; the chorus. They mix it up a bit whilst playing it multiple times, using a quieter moment and quickly following it with the louder, familiar pacing. That little bit of build up means that the chorus doesn’t feel stale and instead feels something akin to epic when it sparks back up. This is how the track is led out, making sure that ‘Let’s Party Like It’s the 90’s’ is a memorable track for the band.
