Released via French label ‘NOA Music’, ‘Problems’ is the second single from Brighton based quartet The Rapports’ upcoming album. Bringing their seaside aura to the indie rock scene, The Rapports have a comfortable discography sat behind them.
With their eyes set firmly on their debut album ‘Taking Off’, the release was recorded and mixed at Normandy’s ‘4A Sound Factory’ by Andy Leyden (John Martyn, Bob Marley, Buzzcocks, U2) and Sie Medway-Smith (Depeche Mode, Rita Ora, Björk, Massive Attack).
‘Problems’ not only features a star-studded line up in it’s production side, the track is filled with chemistry from a band you can tell have been together for 4 years.
While ‘Problems’ has been labelled a demo, this version is fun-loving and filled with creativity. Polished and a bright slice of indie nostalgia, the only thing this song could do with is an extra oomph from a wider guitar tone.
A rhythmic guitar with glistening harmonies is what’s needed to make this ‘demo’ into something more. Saying that, Whereas the track’s arrangement is certainly indie, the production has given the track an early garage rock sound adding tonnes of attitude.
‘Problems’ features a simple yet colourful chord progression that gives the song a vibrant soundscape. Upbeat, and definitely will be a crowd pleaser, ‘Problems’ is the positive wonder you need sitting firmly at the top of your motivational playlist.
