Thanks for joining us today… Tell us bit about where you are from and how you got into music?
We’re Trouble, a pop duo made up of two best friends. Sofia grew up in Georgia, and Kyla grew up on Long Island, New York. Even though we came from different places, we both always loved music and songwriting. We met in Nashville, started writing together, and quickly realized we had a natural chemistry. What started as writing songs for fun turned into building a band, and we’ve been creating together ever since.
What’s the live music scene like in Nashville right now?
Nashville is one of the most inspiring places to be as an artist. Every night you can find incredible writers’ rounds, bands, and musicians playing somewhere. It’s also super motivating because everyone here is chasing something. It definitely pushes us to keep getting better.
Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?
There are honestly so many talented independent artists here. We love seeing people who are doing things their own way instead of chasing trends. The Nashville indie-pop scene has some incredible songwriters, and we think that’s where a lot of the next big artists are going to come from.
Do you think its easy to become a victim of of our surrounds sometimes?
Definitely. It’s easy to compare yourself when you’re surrounded by talented people every day, especially with social media making everyone else’s career look perfect. We’ve learned that the only thing you can really control is making music you’re proud of and staying true to who you are.
What are your ambitions for the band?
We want to build something that lasts. We want to tour the world, put on shows people never forget, and create music that people make memories to.
Whats your favourite social media platform to use and why?
Instagram, definitely. We love that it’s such a visual platform because it lets us build the world around Trouble, not just release music. Every post, photo, and reel becomes part of the story we’re trying to tell. We think people connect with artists through the overall vision just as much as the songs themselves, and Instagram is the best place to bring that to life.
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
It’s more competitive than ever, but it’s also more accessible than it’s ever been. Artists don’t have to wait for permission anymore. You can release music, build a fanbase, and connect with listeners yourself. That comes with a lot more responsibility, but it’s exciting to have that freedom.
Whats your thoughts on AI generated music?
We think AI can be a useful creative tool, but it shouldn’t replace real artists or real stories. People connect with music because it’s human. You can hear when someone has actually lived what they’re singing about, and that’s something technology can’t recreate.
Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
To stop chasing perfection. At some point you have to trust your instincts, release the song, and let it belong to the listeners. You’ll never grow if you’re too scared to put your work out into the world.
What’s currently in your ears and on rotation at the moment?
Lately it’s been a mix of John Summit, Mau P, Cloonee, Kesha, and Sabrina Carpenter. We love music that makes you want to move but still has great songwriting and personality behind it. We pull inspiration from a lot of different places, and that mix of dance music and pop definitely influences what we’re creating right now.
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
Our newest single, That’s The Way, is a bilingual English Spanish dance pop record that’s all about letting go, having fun, and living in the moment. It’s energetic, playful, and made to get people moving. We wanted to create something that felt like summer, no matter where you are.
What was the recording process like?
It was such a fun process because we weren’t afraid to experiment. We tried different melodies, rewrote sections until they felt right, and really focused on making sure the energy translated from the studio into the final record. We learned so much while making it.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
If we’re honest, every artist hears little things they’d tweak after a release! But we’ve learned there’s a point where you have to let a song go. It captures who we were at that moment, and we’re really proud of it.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Just a huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far. Every stream, every share, every message, and every person who gives our music a chance means more than people probably realize. We’re only getting started, and we can’t wait to show everyone what’s coming next.
