It’s RGM video premiere time, today we have the new video from French Dogs and their new video Tucker’s Having a Baby.
Here are a few words about the video, enjoy!👊
The video is a surreal subversion of domestic bliss, centered around a fever-dream baby shower that quickly spirals out of control. While the band performs amidst the stifling confines of a suburban living room, a table laden with cupcakes and baby gifts becomes the stage for a brewing storm. The tension eventually snaps as the band crashes the party and the surrounding decor, sparking a full-scale, fast-cut cupcake fight. The visuals perfectly mirror the track’s ‘chaotic precision,’ juxtaposing sugary, mundane imagery with the band’s signature jagged energy and melodic bite.
This premiere marks the starting gun for a massive year for the Dogs; with an official Record Store Day 12-inch exclusive on the horizon and an international Spring tour hitting the UK, Paris, and The Netherlands, the band is proving to be one of the hottest indie outfits from the capital. The single is the first taste of their debut album, set for release on May 23rd.
Stepping out from the “frazzled mornings” of their December debut EP, “Tucker’s Having a Baby” is a guitar-driven firecracker that mines a cynical, tongue-in-cheek energy from a universal social panic: the moment a friend trades the pub for the nursery. It’s an upbeat, danceable track that captures the frantic realization that while your inner circle is moving toward parenthood, you’re just “waiting on an English sun” with a borrowed T-shirt and a “shitty phone”.
Frontman Ben Spencer delivers a raw, bewildered vocal performance, viewing this particular milestone with a sense of comedic impending doom. “Tucker’s having a baby / And no I don’t feel alright,” he declares, exploring the friction of a generation caught between the desire for “something simple” and the stubborn refusal to grow up.
