It’s another RGM video premiere, today we have the new video from The badley Behaved and their new video She has a way.
Here are a few words about the video, enjoy!👊
The vocalists include Colé van Dias and Richard von Kalmar, and Richard also wrote and produced the music for the track. It was co-produced and engineered by the acclaimed British producer Jamie Sellers. We started by deconstructing the original ‘She has a way’ to its bear bones and then building it up again, using two new bass-lines, an arpeggiator-melody and percussion that works with the main bass-line, pads and a number of other synth-lines. The bridge was written separately and, once the musical arrangement was complete, a number of vocal tracks were recorded, including many ‘ad-lib’ tracks by Colé.
The best vocal ad-libs were then selected and matched to the music before working on the production, including adding FXs. The track was then send to Jamie Sellers, who spent more time working on the placement of the vocal ad-libs and the production of the track before mixing it. Once Jamie was finished with it, the track was mastered. Apart from the vocals, this track was created entirely digitally, using Ableton Live and its sound libraries, as well as the Native Instruments, Stylus RMX and several other tools and sound libraries. Sounds were altered and adapted and sound effects were applied during the arranging, producing and mixing stages.
She has a way is ‘girl-meets-boy’ song. The girl is manipulative and materialistic, and her male counterpart doesn’t stand a chance! Hence the chorus line “She has a way of getting what she wants” and part of the verse “She has a way, and you will pay, that’s ‘cause the bills come to you’. The Badly Behaved’s version is a synth-rich dance track with significantly less percussion than the original and is also slower than the original, at 116 BPM. The track will be released as part of an E.P. that will also include a remix by Philipp Lauer and a ‘Slowed & Reverb’ version.
The video was produced and directed by Calvin Blighnout and tells the ‘girl-meets-boy’ story of song. It was shot over several months and in a few different locations, including a restaurant and a roof-top bar, amongst several others. Colé and Richard play the two protagonists and we hope the story of Richard being taken to the cleaners by Colé is clearly portrayed!
