Violet Love Interview - RGM Introducing

Violet Love Interview – RGM Introducing

Hiya Violet Love, thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.

Thanks for joining us today… Tell us a bit about where you are from and how you got into music?

I’m originally from South Orange, New Jersey. Music has always been a part of my life;

Growing up listening to The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Billy Joel, and all the other classics had a profound effect on me, as it has so many of us.

What’s the live music scene like in Grand Rapids, Michigan right now?

Grand Rapids is a wonderful city, and it’s always growing, which I love to see. I’m very grateful to be here.

What are your ambitions as an artist?

I am always looking to grow and improve as a person.

Getting my music heard and writing songs that people can feel, not just hear, is a process that requires constant growth and improvement.

What’s your favourite social media platform to use and why?

I hate them all equally.

We believe it’s essential to have a presence on Facebook, Instagram and X to introduce yourself to all the different types of audiences out there, what’s your thoughts on that?

I believe it’s a necessary evil of our current society.

Nowadays, making yourself heard seems to be more important to an artist’s success than how you actually sound.

I hate that.

What’s your view on the Music industry today?

The advancement of music technology and the digital age has made music more accessible than ever before.

From both a musician’s and fan’s perspective.

I think that’s super badass; I just wish we as a society would’ve thought about the many side effects of that before we dove in headfirst.

What’s your thoughts on AI-generated music?

If we burnt down all the data centers, we wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore :).

What’s the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?

I’ve spent way too much time trying to do things the “right way”.

Sometimes all that planning and strategizing can keep you from doing anything at all.

So I am currently in the process of learning how to live freely and learn as I go.

What’s currently in your ears and on rotation at the moment?

I’ve been really into Hail the Sun’s “Wake” album recently.

That and a band from Nashville called Mercury.

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

“Airport Road” is a song about finding where you belong and never looking back.

Specifically, the belonging I’ve found by proposing to my fiance and getting ot be a part of his family.

What was the writing/recording process like?

It was fun! I wrote it when I had a really sore throat, so I have a voice memo somewhere of me sounding like RFK Jr trying to sing my song.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

I always find things I would do differently every time I record.

Learning to be ok with my art as it is and to let it speak for itself is a constant battle for me.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

I enjoy working on other people’s music just as much, if not more, at times than I enjoy making my own.

If anyone needs help mixing, recording, mastering, etc., let me know.

I got pay-what-you-can options since no one can afford shit nowadays.

Also, if you’re ever in Vegas and you’re looking for good NY pizza, Broadway Pizzeria on South Rancho Dr is really underrated.
