London 3-piece Lyra have released their latest single “Way Out”, the follow-up and second release of 2026 after a successful release of “Run”.
The artwork is a light lilac with some neon cut throughs and a sort of silhouette and honestly, I didn’t know whether to expect pop, punk, rock or a little bit of everything, but the artwork alone had me intrigued.
The track is just over three and a half minutes, a solid length if you ask me, and it starts with an echo-like vocal slowly getting louder and louder and it actually hooked me very quickly, and it almost made me feel spaced out but then this electric rocky instrumental kicks in and I was amazed!
After a little tease, the vocals cut through and take centre stage and my god, what a set of pipes! The vocals are incredible on this and there is a lot of a range, it keeps up with the highs and dips of the backing track, but never once overpowered.
The lyrics are a little repetitive at times, but to be honest it made it very easy to pick up, which would make it a very good one live from a point of view that the audience could get involved.
At roughly 2 mins 50, there is this incredible guitar riff that just takes it to another level, which I wasn’t expecting, and it just brought the mood and tempo up for the remainder of the song, I was just having a great time!
It wasn’t an abrupt ending as such, it’s faded out and mastered beautifully but I was actually somewhat disappointed that it was over!
A brilliant song, one I think will definitely turn heads, both on playlists and live at gigs or festivals, well worth a listen.
