Originally from Ireland, but now residing in France, Jeff ‘The Fish’ Lefroy has brought out his new single “The Search For Paradise”.
Now, Jeff says he has a multitude of muses from the likes of Tony Joe White, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac and more, but is interested in a number of genres, with Blues, Rock, Soul and Funk all in an ‘accessible mix’ – so that with his funky get up on the artwork, I was already intrigued.
It starts off with a catchy drumbeat and a soft soulful yet funky guitar twang follows, it’s very melodic and soothing, and then Jeff’s vocals cut through it seamlessly, it’s almost got a country-folk like feel to it too, but only a slight injection of it.
The backing vocals of this work brilliantly and elevate the track onto new levels, it’s a sublime element used well.
The instrumental at times is long, but it is worthy of listening, it’s easy to listen to, so that’s why I’m not too mad about the length of it.
This is a very upbeat track in the feel of it, but the lyrics are soulful and meaningful, it’s quite powerful thinking about it because it’s actually very subtle, which I like, you can get lost in the music.
I do feel like the upbeat tune and style is a nod to not only Jeff’s music taste but also his Irish roots, whilst it’s not the sort of track I’d expect to be played in say the streets of Dublin, it has got that high energy, fun side to it and he perfectly mixes a number of genre’s together and makes it look easy.
It’s a brilliant track and there’s not a lot I can fault, it’s feel-good, uplifting and has a really catchy instrumental that will become a bit of an earworm – nicely done Jeff.
