It’s another RGM video premiere, today we have the new video from Sophia Garvey and their new video Bad Dream.
Here are a few words about the video, enjoy!👊
The music video for “Bad Dream” was a collaborative piece of work between Sophia Garvey and Rui Santos. The video was shot on an old-style film camera, this was done to highlight Sophia’s grungy look and her aesthetical appeal towards the 90’s. The video follows Sophia in a glamorized version of her “every day” from getting ready in the bath to stepping out the house in her killer look, we believed it was important to have the music video keep the attention on her so an audience can better engage with the visual elements that the singer is trying to conjure. Red and black were constantly used as colour motifs as Sophia strongly believes these resemble her sense of aesthetic best. Smoking is also a constant motif throughout the video to depict her sense of danger and rebel attitude.
The cigarette can also be interpreted as an addictive force that keeps the singer continuously moving throughout the music video, showing the effect of the “Bad Dream” she mentions.
Lastly, the music video moves sporadically to give away the impression of being submerged in a dream like world, feeling hazy and almost unclear with the only sense of clarity being the constant presence of Sophia, because this is her dream world and were all just living in it.
