Sam B-K might’ve just pulled off something unique. Blending indie rock with comedic storytelling in a way that doesn’t feel obviously forced. His latest track, New Car, is catchy, weirdly relatable, and not to mention the raw charm that sticks with you!
The hook, I need a new car…, isn’t just a throwaway line, it’s an earworm that lingers when the song ends. In fact I can see how this could work with a live crowd chanting it back. There’s a clear sense of theatricality here, an almost punk-like irreverence that makes the track feel alive. It’s indie rock with humour, it works. There’s a hint of Blink-182’s playful energy, but Sam B-K keeps it distinct and proper British!
The storytelling is tight, the lyrics land well. However the production still carries that DIY demo feel, but it doesn’t take away from the experience too much. If anything, the rawness adds character, reinforcing the theme.
While I have this opinion, you can’t help but feel It would need refining to fully earn credibility of music and comedy alike. What’s clear is that Sam B-K is carving out his own space in the indie scene. His sound is different, his approach is fresh, and his willingness to experiment will only make him better.
Overall, New Car is a fun, offbeat ride with the kind of infectious energy that everyone appreciates. Hit play and buckle up. Stream New Car now on all platforms!
