Winachi Tribe frontman Liam Croker and Prodigy producer Dave Pemberton release a new collaboration and it feels like cinema. You’re Not The Only One is a soulful, psych-pop classic that mixes truth and swagger.
Right away the sun-bright acoustic guitars and distant drums set the scene. It’s got that noughties classic vibe, but feels all that relevant today. Liam’s vocal lands right where it needs to. Smooth, confident, and perfectly balanced against the instrumentation. It sits in the pocket, and works with the warm electric piano, carrying the song along nicely.
The production and musicianship throughout are top quality, and the flute solo is a stand out. Completely unexpected but certainly well received. It feels like a pick and mix of instrumentation, bold horns, trippy synths and littered with interesting percussion.
Some will want a little more of a dynamic shift, the song doesn’t take you on a roller coaster. But honestly, the consistency only adds to the overall melancholic feel. Dave and Liam have created something that feels classic, a track you could swear you’ve heard before, but want to hear again.
In short, Croker and Pemberton have nailed it. A rich, soulful piece of psych-pop that hits both the heart and the ears. If you want a familiar feeling and a pleasant taste in your mouth, then definitely give it a spin!
