North east band Porters drop new single ‘The Thrill’. A sweet rock song that packs a meaty punch. This track is a rock lover’s dream. Fat guitars, dreamy vocals, and a killer riff. It feels like a Royal Blood and Blondie collab. Yes, it’s as cool as it sounds.
Firstly the production is spot on. The instruments hit hard and feel polished. The vocals have real charm, giving the song a unique edge. But here’s the thing, while it’s all almost there, something about the vocal finish feels just a tad off. It’s not a deal breaker, but there’s a slight disconnect that prevents you from diving completely into the experience.
That said, the song only gets better throughout. A slick guitar solo adds a nice layer of excitement to the mix but the bridge is for me the standout. It offers that perfect breather before the riff slams back in, though I do wish the harmonies were a bit more fleshed out. They’ve got potential to make that section really soar. Would love to see this elevated live!
The Thrill could use a little more unpredictability, a twist that throws you off guard. But hey, it’s only their second release, and that kind of thing tends to come with time.
All in all, it’s a rock solid track, and you can already tell Porters could quickly build a solid fan base from songs like these ready to back them. Can’t wait to see how they evolve and what they drop next.
