The Radio Addicts are a four-piece indie-punk band hailing from Bolton and whilst they’re relatively new in the game, their passion and determination certainly isn’t.
I was pretty blown-away when this landed in my inbox – they’re four young lads from Bolton, ranging in age from 11-14! which astounds me.
Upon first-listen when I was getting a bit of a flavour for them – the guitar riffs had my jaw hanging open – it’s a real headbanger from the get-go, with the vocals soon following.
The vocals whilst a bit softer, do keep up with the fast pace of the track – and give a real flavour of what The Radio Addicts are about – with the lyrics holding a lot of maturity beyond their years – the trials and tribulations of social media – short attention spans and the superficial things you see online.
The bassline is literally sublime and the drum beat is something to be reckoned with – they have all the flavours there to be successful – and it is a genuinely enjoyable track there.
The vocals for me need a tiny bit of work, however, that said I feel like this could be an element of age and confidence – there is definitely a good foundation there and I felt the softer parts of the song worked really well – but with more years on their shoulders, I feel like there could be that real punk-like feel to them measuring up to the likes of Blink-182, Good Charlotte and more.
The artwork shows a derelict street, with a UFO in the background and all four lads walking towards the camera, carrying and looking at their phones – which I think captures the elements of the track perfectly, hinting at a society consumed by scrolling and social media.
They have so much talent for lads their age and I’m blown away by the sheer amount of it they have for so young – I’ll look forward to seeing their progress as they grow and settle into their style as I think this punk-rock-indie esque could really work for them as they’re clearly hungry and enthusiastic to build on more – fantastic.
