The K’s forthcoming debut album ‘I Wonder If The World Knows’ must be high up there on most people’s anticipated releases of 2024 so when the boys dropped the album’s second teaser single this week ‘No Place Like Home’ it can only have added to the growing sense of anticipation amongst The K’s dedicated fanbase.
The track is exactly what the boys do best, a blistering Boyle/Breslin battlecry. Full-on, fast and ferocious.
Once the rousing guitars of the intro subside it’s the drums and bass of Nathan and Dexter that pound the track along providing the perfect backing for both Jamie’s soaring vocals and Ryan’s understated guitar heroics.

There are brief moments of calm, there’s build ups, break downs, anthemic sign-along bits, massive bass and sublime drumming. It’s got everything and then it’s over, it’s all over too quick… it’s like an entire K’s gig encapsulated in two minutes and fifty-four seconds!
But this is no throwaway, bounce-along rocker. Jamie Boyle and Ryan Breslin’s writing partnership is turning into something quite special. Whilst the boys have always been capable of knocking out a great tune or three, these days we hear increasing mention of mental health themes. Of anxiety, financial frivolity, the futile pursuit of a temporary escape from a bleak life perhaps. All superb modern-day social commentary on a world where everyone wants to be the star in their own Insta-reality show.
And that sound….it’s just massive! Back in the 1980’s there was ‘the big music’ as it was imaginatively known. It was the sound of U2, The Cult and Simple Minds amongst others. It filled stadiums and it conquered America and it might just be back. But this time it’s bigger and this time it’s better.
