Sheffield bands seem to be on the rise, with all kinds of music appearing from the City. From hard rock to indie, there’s plenty of variety, but there is one band that has caught my eye – FloodHounds. Being a mixture of different types of rock music, this band does not fail when releasing their music.
Their latest single One Horse Race is fast paced with punk-like vocals, drawing listeners in from the get-go. With drums opening the track, you are captivated as soon as this track starts playing. The vocals just flow effortlessly throughout, with chants of ‘la la la’s’ in the first 10 seconds, which can be heard right through the track, it’ll be the earworm you can’t complain at. The song has consistent beats and it is very much an indie-rock anthem. If you like Kasabian, you’ll certainly love this 3-piece band!
You can really hear the Northern accent in this tune too, it’s as if Alex Turner and the entirety of The Reytons had a baby and produced this band, I absolutely love this track. It brings a very Yorkshire atmosphere to the indie-rock scene. One thing that stood out to me was the build up to the chorus, the drums and guitar get harder and just makes me want to mosh around my bedroom, potentially breaking my neck from headbanging in the process. I can’t get enough of it!
FloodHounds have a headline gig in London coming up in March, and just from hearing this track alone I can already tell that their show is going to be full of gritty guitar, hard-hitting drums, and vocals that make you want to scream your heart out. Get streaming this fantastic band and support them on their journey!
