VVILLØ - WRONG ROAD

WE REVIEW THE LATEST SINGLE FROM VVILLØ – WRONG ROAD

Rising UK DJ and producer VVILLØ teams up with NALYRO and Levis Della in his latest single – ‘Wrong Road’.

Hot on the heels of his 2022 tracks – ‘No Tomorrow’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Still Want More’ – Surrey-based VVILLØ (pronounced WILLO) has already racked up the streams on this latest offering along with the continued support from his local BBC Radio station.

‘Wrong Road’ – the summer-tinged single released just last month – manages to be equal parts break-up song and house anthem – which is no mean feat at just two minutes and forty two seconds in run time. Yet this one doesn’t feel rushed.

From the opening synthy intro backed with a bright electronic beat, distorted reverb-drenched vocals soon enter the mix. It’s a tale of heartache with the first lines pleading “Why you gonna break my heart girl? / You and me I thought were together for life”

Speaking about the track, the artist said “[It’s] a song about a relationship that seems to have not gone to plan. With manipulation and lies, one partner in the relationship sees it is time to end it while the other is lost and confused as to why things fell apart.”

And it’s a relatable subject for many of us. Lyrics talk of mistrust, doubt and regret. And for all it’s summery house beat, there’s also a dark and driving streak to this track. Complete with vocals that although manipulated, still retain a certain emotion and soulfulness to them.
“I guess you chose the wrong road baby”

It’s a tune perfectly designed for these summer months. And one that will almost certainly find its way onto the playlists of those who like deep or progressive house and even those who just know a banger when they hear one. Who knew heartbreak could sound this good?
