Aerynn’s new album ‘see in the dark’ is a stunning exploration of sound and emotion. The 14 tracks blend Indie New Age, Folk, and Americana with a cinematic touch. Produced by Mark Winterburn, the album thrives on its diversity. Listening to it, I was swept into a haunting, comforting, and profoundly moving world.
The album begins with “See In The Dark”, a song that gave me goosebumps from the first notes. Aerynn’s ethereal voice paired with minimalist piano creates an atmosphere of pure magic. The repeated question, “Can you see in the dark?”, accompanied by echoing harmonies, felt like an embrace. It’s the kind of track that wraps around you, perfect for the stillness of winter.
I love songs that open with just the singer’s voice and “Winter Window” delivers that beautifully. For a few seconds, it’s just Aerynn, before the piano enters with an urgency that pulls you in, eventually joined by the guitar. This thoughtful arrangement is a hallmark of the album, where every element feels purposeful and perfectly placed.

One of the most striking songs for me was “Gift”. The harmonies in the background are breathtaking, especially on lines like “Without words, the truth is known / the ache within each one must stop”. There’s something about this song’s simplicity that makes it unforgettable. Again, it’s clear how much thought went into the layering of every vocal and instrumental line.
Then there’s “Ode to the Wind”, a lovely acoustic track that feels like a break in the middle of the album. Its Americana vibes make it feel like it belongs in a Western movie and I might even call it my personal favorite. It has a lightness and charm that’s hard to resist.
When I saw that “You Take” was over six minutes long, I was hesitant as long songs can sometimes feel drawn out, but this one flew by. The piano and guitar blend beautifully to create a nostalgic atmosphere that perfectly complements the lyrics. And that moment at 5:08 when Aerynn sings “I won’t take it anymore”—wow. Goosebumps again. Her voice carries so much power and emotion; she can hold a note like few singers can and it’s a joy to listen to.
The album closes with “Still”, a piano-driven track that feels like it belongs in a musical or opera. The lyrics are delivered with such emotion that it leaves you breathless. It’s the kind of song that demands complete silence as it plays, and when it ends, you find yourself sitting in the quiet, just reflecting.
Overall, this is an album that invites listeners to sit with their emotions, offering comfort and catharsis in equal measure. Aerynn’s ethereal voice is the centerpiece, supported by arrangements that balance intimacy with grandeur.
