WE REVIEW THE NEW ALBUM FROM EMERALD BLUFFS – FORMATIONS

Emerald Bluffs’ debut album “FORMATIONS” is a journey through the messy, beautiful parts of life—love, loss, and time’s unrelenting march. Led by the multi-talented Isaac Harris, this band from Bend, United States, has crafted a collection of songs that feel like an emotional road trip.

From the first notes of “Merced River,” you’re drawn into Harris’ reflective world. It’s like a peaceful moment by a river, with soothing synths and soulful vocals. Just as you’re lulled into tranquillity, “Rains on the Roof” kicks in with its lovely acoustic riff , vocals remind me of a young McCartney

Autumn’s Eve” shifts the mood, capturing the melancholic beauty of changing seasons with lush instrumentation. Harris’ optimism shines in “Perfect Day,” a track so uplifting it feels like watching the sunrise over a serene forest. The balance between somber and hopeful is like a nice new brewed cup of coffee—strong yet smooth.

The album continues to surprise with “All I Need,” a heartfelt ballad that showcases Harris’ lyrical prowess. The minimalist arrangement lets his poignant lyrics take center stage, creating one of the album’s most resonant moments. “Cor Caroli” adds a little slower twist with its dreamy soundscapes, blending indie with ambient influences.

Magnolia” offers a delicate tribute to the titular flower, with tender guitar work and intimate atmosphere. “Darlin‘” brings a touch of vintage charm, evoking nostalgia with its retro-inspired melodies and affectionate lyrics. “Destined” explores a fun diversion and is a nice lil tune.

Trauma Castles” closes the album on a safe nice note, a poignant finale.

We have to say, Harris taking on the roles of engineer, producer, and mixer. The album, recorded across diverse landscapes from Bend, Oregon, to Carbondale, Illinois, adds a unique texture and richness. This geographical diversity is reflected in the album’s soundscapes and atmospheric depth.

Harris has created an album that is deeply personal and universally relatable, If this is just the beginning, we can’t wait to see where Harris takes us next. Emerald Bluffs is just getting started.
