Do you ever feel like a band is missing from your playlist? Always feel as if you have nothing new to listen to? Well, lucky for you Mothshade just released their brand new album, Revenant. It’s an aggressive mix of electronic rock and industrial, definitely an album you NEED to hear.
The album consists of 15 songs, which all have immense heavy guitar riffs, vocals that are so angelic they will transport you to a whole different dimension, and driving rhythms that will captivate you straight away. This whole album is fire, you really don’t know what you’re missing out on until you listen to these tracks!
Kicking off the album is Rise, a great opening song which gives you a taste of what these guys are like. It has the heavy riffs and starts off with a Nine Inch Nails kind of intro including a great mix of industrial beats and electronic vibes. The song is 5 mins long and is full of energy, you’ll certainly be craving more after hearing this.
Next up, we are introduced to Ashes to Ashes and Parasite. With the vocalist being a woman, she makes every song heavenly even with the heavy riffs and insane instrumentals, her voice is just perfect for every song on this album. Ashes to Ashes is such a great tune. It will have you headbanging all the way through! Parasite starts off with vocals, then builds up into a similar instrumental as the rest of the tracks. It is a very danceable track and one I would most certainly play over and over.
Echo Chamber is the 4th track on the album with Recovery and Echo following. These tracks have a KMFDM and And One vibe to them. With the industrial elements flowing consistently, it’s hard to turn the tracks off. Every song is a hit, and no matter what their sound will linger. This band is exceptional and they are all so talented. The only down side to this album is that every song starts alike to the rest. There’s no song that starts differently to the rest, which is a shame. As the songs build up they tend to be slightly different but not by much. The rest of the album is the same.
It does let the album down a bit but overall this album is probably one of the best industrial-metal albums I have heard for a very long time. I can’t discredit the talent that reaps out of these guys! I expect the band to be on Download Festival’s bill next year as they would fit in perfectly on the Kerrang! stage. Go check these guys out for yourself and get a real feel of what the band is all about.
