THE WINNERS CIRCLE

WE REVIEW THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE WINNERS CIRCLE – SO BE IT

The Winners Circle is shooting their shot with So Be It, an ambitious blend of hip-hop, neo-soul, and rap that carries the confidence of a crew who knows their worth. Coming out of Dallas, this collective is clearly out to prove they can balance raw lyricism with smooth production. The result? A mixed bag.

Kicking things off with FKDUP MAST MIX, the album starts hard, setting a gritty tone that grabs attention immediately. The track has an underground feel, raw and unapologetic, but the mix feels a little too raw, bordering on unfinished. For a lead track, it’s got energy but could use more polish to truly pull listeners in.

Things pick up with Don’t Deserve It , my personal favourite on the album and Superman, two tracks that highlight the group’s strength in blending heartfelt storytelling with tight beats. The Winners Circle shines brightest when they’re vulnerable and honest, and these moments are sprinkled throughout the album like gems.

But then there’s Rumors and We Up, which lean heavily into the trap side of their influences. While the beats are solid, the tracks feel somewhat derivative. There’s swagger, sure, but the lyrical content doesn’t break new ground, but hey ho, thats really hard to do.

The album’s R&B flavor comes through beautifully on Purpose and I Promise. These tracks are smooth and sultry, showing off a knack for melody and mood. Purpose, in particular, is a highlight, with production that feels lush and expansive. The balance of rap and R&B here is where The Winners Circle truly hit their stride.

By the time you get to tracks like Impatient and Black Whole, there’s a sense of cohesion that starts to click. These songs feel more experimental, with layered vocals and atmospheric beats. Black Whole deserves special mention—it’s ambitious, almost hypnotic, and shows what this group is capable of when they push boundaries.

There are moments where the energy dips unexpectedly, and some tracks feel like they’re competing rather than complementing each other. For a group with 25k fans and a self-proclaimed arsenal of good songs, a more consistent polish would go a long way in solidifying their sound.

So Be It is an album that feels like a calling card—a promise of what’s to come. The Winners Circle has the talent and vision to create something truly memorable, but this effort feels like it’s still finding its footing. With a tighter focus and a little more refinement, they’re more than capable of breaking into the broader conversation. For now, this album is a step in the right direction, and it’s definitely worth a listen for fans of genre-blending hip-hop and R&B.
