MIMI SATANISTÁ - TRANSMISSION FROM THE VOID

WE REVIEW THE NEW EP FROM MIMI SATANISTÁ – TRANSMISSION FROM THE VOID

There’s a certain kind of madness you only get when someone really means it – not just the performative sort of chaos you see on TikTok, but that deep, knotted, fuck-the-world energy that leaks out no matter how much you try to polish it up. Mimi Satanistá’s new EP TRANSMISSION FROM THE VOID  is absolutely soaked in that feeling. It’s like flicking through a diary written in blood and neon – uncomfortable, raw, but completely impossible to ignore.

Lonely opens the record in a way that feels like being dragged backwards through a dream. It’s all glitched reverbed out vocal warping and jagged synth lines, but there’s a softness too, this weird, fragile humanity underneath the autotune armour. This isn’t about being pristine. It’s about barely keeping your head above the flood.

By the time Delusional rolls in, you’re already knee-deep in the quicksand. There’s a twitchy, gnawing rhythm to it, like your brain glitching out trying to process trauma at 100mph. It doesn’t always land perfectly – at times the distortion and vocal effects trip over the actual emotion they’re trying to hammer home – but there’s no denying it feels real. Like, properly real. Not market-tested, not designed for playlists. Real in that uncomfortable way that sticks to your ribs.

PARALIEZd is arguably the standout moment – a slow, squirming monster of a track that sounds like it’s decaying while you listen to it. Mimi’s vocals here are less about lyrics and more about pure, wounded energy. It’s nightmarish, in a good way. If there’s a criticism, it’s that it could’ve gone even uglier – there’s this undercurrent of menace that never quite explodes the way you’re begging it to.

Then comes RAGE IS A RITUAL, the closest thing to a full-on banger this EP has. It’s chaotic, industrial, properly teeth-baring – a sort of electro-punk tantrum aimed at every false friend, abusive system and personal demon you can imagine. This is Mimi at their best – untouchable, confrontational, messy as hell and proud of it. It’s not pretty, but it’s vital.

Closing track idk u feels like waking up the next morning, sore and confused but still breathing. There’s a haunting weirdness to it, a resignation without total defeat. The production’s a bit cleaner here, letting Mimi’s actual songwritingshine through a bit more, which honestly, I’d have liked to hear more of earlier on. There’s real craft underneath all the distortion and chaos – and if anything, the next move for Mimi Satanistá should be trusting that more. Let the rawness breathe a bit sometimes, instead of trying to drown it in noise.

Overall, TRANSMISSION FROM THE VOID is a mess – but it’s a beautiful, furious, necessary mess. Mimi Satanistá isn’t trying to please you, and thank fuck for that. It’s not perfect, it’s not easy, but it matters. And in a world choking on polished plastic alt-pop, this is the kind of scream we actually need.
