With disorientating nuances, experimental overtones, and subtly muffled vocals, N.O.I.S.E.W.I.Z.A.R.D transports you into in the relentlessly dissonant space that is “Healing Spells.” This five track EP is edgily abstract with super stark lyrics that teeter on the verge of escapism.
The first wave of the project “Starry Eyed” dropped just a few weeks ago, giving fans as taste of the warped hip-hop that embodies the new EP. It’s a dark beat driven track with gentler flourishes that sit just beneath the mid-line, never quite breaking through the intense bass that encompasses the single; a complex realm to drift into. These themes gurgle throughout the EP, manifesting in low paced grooves, although chopping and changing, to reflect a cathartic lyrical substance which steps fully into focus during the closing track “At the End of a Lifetime.”
“Healing Spells” is ominous and generates a craving for a drop where one might never let up. However, each discomfort is dissolved by utterly unique musical ideas for your attention to indulge in.
The production is masterfully tight too, allowing each irregularity to feel completely normal. N.O.I.S.E.W.I.Z.A.R.D has put a curious twist on alternative hip-hop with this EP, and we can only sit in anticipation for what we’ll hear next.
