WE REVIEW THE NEW EP FROM SEBAS DE VARONA

Miami-based singer-songwriter Sebas De Varona returns with a new EP titled “Dynamics in the 4th Dimension”. The 18-year-old producer writes and records all of his music. Inspired heavily by artists such as Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, and the Beatles, Sebastian hopes to spark a revival of introspective/psychedelic music and the least we can say is that it is working. With this new EP, he takes us back to the psychedelic era of the 70s while offering a fresh, contemporary twist.

The EP opens with “Pulled Away” a track that represents the artist’s essence with a blend of psychedelic rock and subtle country vibes. The guitar work immediately draws us in. The track’s structure is reminiscent of the sprawling, exploratory compositions of Pink Floyd, yet it maintains a distinct modernity.

The next track, “Keep It In”, begins with mesmerizing guitar loops that slowly build into a minimalist arrangement. The moderate instrumentation gives center stage to Sebas De Varona’s powerful and mature voice. If I didn’t know I would never have guessed that he is only 18! This track is definitely my favorite from the whole EP as we can fully appreciate De Varona’s singing skills.

Then, with “Wake Up”, De Varona shifts to a more laid-back, contemplative mood. This track gives more space for solo instruments, creating a dreamy, almost hypnotic atmosphere. The track is a bit long so it gets repetitive but I guess the length works well with the hypnotic vibes.

Lastly, the EP closes with “Preachers”, a track that leans into the singer-songwriter and folk genres. This song is a nice surprise, ending the EP on a reflective and somewhat unexpected note. The standout moment here is the crazy bass solo, which injects a burst of energy to both the song and us, listeners.

At just 18 years old, Sebas De Varona demonstrates a remarkable level of maturity and skill as a guitarist, songwriter, and producer. His ability to blend genres and create a full listening experience for the listeners is particularly impressive.
