The Here And Now

WE REVIEW THE NEW EP FROM THE HERE AND NOW – DREAMS OF GRANDEUR

The Here and Now seem to have made quite an entrance into the alternative rock scene with their debut EP “Dreams of Grandeur”. Hailing from London, this trio has managed to capture attention with their blend of head-bopping guitar grooves, energetic drum beats, and powerful vocal melodies. Their presence in London’s underground music venues post-lockdown showcases their commitment to both their craft and the live performance experience.

Drawing inspiration from 90s alt-rock, The Here and Now tap into the discontent felt by a generation disillusioned by societal systems. The trio effectively channels the sounds of British post-punk heritage, crafting a sonic landscape that’s both nostalgic and contemporary.

The five tracks of their debut EP tackle topics close to the heart of the members. From the title track “Dreams of Grandeur”, reflecting on where their past selves thought they would be in life by now to the track “Running” about facing up to your inner demons, whether that be mental health or addiction, and ultimately conquering them.

To focus on the title track “Dreams of Grandeur”, the song released ahead of the EP in 2022 showcases the band’s ability to fuse thought-provoking lyrics with infectious melodies. The song’s alt-rock vibe intertwines seamlessly with its introspective message, creating a memorable listening experience. This is the perfect lead single choice as it echoes the essence of the EP’s overarching theme.

All in all, “Dreams of Grandeur” is a promising first step for The Here and Now, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating what they have in store for the future.
