WE REVIEW THE NEW EP FROM THE SKINNER BROTHERS – LONEDON EP

The Skinner Brothers are a unique band, bringing forth elements from blues, rock and indie genres with little splashes of other genres.

This EP is a fantastic addition to the collection this band has been putting together. Starting out with the title track, “LONEDON” shows off the bluesy, rock and roll that these guys do oh so well. Groovy licks and smooth lyricism with a hint of melancholy are the perfect combination that these guys never miss.

Along the rest of the EP, the other tracks follow suit, with high energy and fantastic instrumentation uses. “LOADED GUN” is a classic indie sounding song, straight out of FIFA with a riff based, high energy and hard hitting lyrics.

Although a lot of the tracks seem to follow the same rough outline and method, there is no point where you feel like you’ve heard a repeat of something they’ve done before. Unlike a lot of other bands at this level, they manage to keep everything distinct and separate with a personality of it’s own.

On the whole, this EP is an excellent display of what these guys are putting forwards into the scene at the moment. A new sound and professional feeling, with the elements that brought rock and roll back into the mainstream for a small time during the 00’s. These are definitely ones to watch in future.
