WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE BY ALFIE AND THE AVALON – NOT WHERE I BELONG

Alfie and the Avalon are an indie rock band out of Huddersfield. Being only around for a year, this fresh faced foursome are following in the footsteps of Sam Fender and other indie giants.

Not Where I Belong is a classic indie rock song, putting forward catchy lead guitar licks and even catchier melodies. As well as a brilliant guitar solo and fun, dancey rhythms. The combination of all these things creates an indie summer anthem. Something you’d put in a playlist along side T-Shirt Weather.

I think the thing that really puts this track ahead of other indie bands at the moment, is the lead guitar. Consistently giving great little motifs and licks, working with the other instruments to create a whole story in solos and transitions.

Overall, this song is an addition to the great start that Alfie and the Avalon have had. And it’s only up from here for them. If they demonstrate this skill and masterful writing repeatedly then they could be one of the greats.
