FRANCESCA' BY FORGOTTEN GARDEN

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE ‘FRANCESCA’ BY FORGOTTEN GARDEN

Francesca” is a dark-wave number with layers of indie moments. The new single from Forgotten Garden draws listeners in with its gothic vibe.

The single comes across as poignant and dark but with layers of light shining through to indicate the potential in this songwriter’s discography to come.

Forgotten Garden are a Dark Indie band (duo+guests). Their songs are generally sad, poignant and haunting. Vocals are provided by Inês whilst Danny plays the guitars and keyboards.

Although primarily an electric band they do occasionally produce acoustic material. Inês lives in her native Portugal. Danny lives in the north of Scotland. They started working together in 2019.

Telling the story of a woman whose previous socialite life has been eclipsed by the necessity of caring for her demanding and overbearing mother. Francesca feels trapped by duty and isolated from the world she once inhabited.

Sounding like Lana Del Rey jammed with Joy Divison, this is a thought-provoking release that feels somewhat like a folk song. I’m saying that because folk is all about the story.

Inês’ vocals are outstanding throughout this song. She could easily become a household name from her voice alone. The backing band is captivating and knows exactly what to play in the right moments.

A stunning performance from the very first note, the only thing that makes me lean backward is the length of the song. The dynamics stay the same throughout and don’t venture beyond their own boundaries.

Every genre has its own way of telling a story. Darkwave is all about intimacy.

This song definitely has intimacy and a chilling nature.
