The thirst for raw, anthemic indie rock never seems to waver in this country, and one band continuing to take advantage of our mass desire is All The Young. Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, this group have been active since 2009, and it’s safe to say they’ve solidified their status within the UK indie scene.
Fast-forward to 2025, All The Young are prepping to follow their string of critically acclaimed releases with a new single. It’s called Demons, and, as you may have guessed, it’s about that awful niggling self-doubt that holds so many of us back. However, it’s an anthem that embraces the fight and growth we experience rather than wallowing in our self-pity.
Demons gets straight to the point, starting with the chorus hook before going into the first verse. The tone is bright and tinny, which compliments the vocalist’s thick voice nicely. There’s not much quiet air in the instrumentals that create this enveloping, stadium-ready sound. Acoustic and electric guitars are accompanied by uninterrupted drums and a steady bassline.
Although the verses are full-bodied, there’s still room for the chorus to pack an even greater punch. We hear that emotive vocal hook again: save me from the demons my love/I won’t let you down/I won’t let you fall. The beat is a real foot-tapper, and I can imagine fans dancing and belting the words to one another.
The one thing this track is missing is a prominent bridge or solo section. Just something to break up the repetitive chorus-verse structure and recapture our attention as listeners.
Demons is quite hypnotic from start to finish. It’s fast-paced but easy listening, just as indie rock should be. All The Young have quenched our thirst once again.
