Returning from tours all around America and Europe, supporting big names like Noel Gallagher and Louis Tomlinson, The North East star brings about an upbeat anthemic single, Goodbye.
With Goodbye, Andrew Cushin pushes his poignant, vibrant sound even further, giving his own interpretation of the tug and pull within the relationship.
Sonically, the track features the typical melodic guitars and powerful delivery that is innate to Andrew’s music.
However Goodbye in particular, finds a source of momentum true to the heart. Maybe it is the steady drums, or even the female vocal mix within the chorus, but the overlapping instrumentals does not feel heavy at all, instead it feels refreshing with the bright topline, like a stream of hope amidst the misery in feeling lost.
I am in love with the brief moment of quietness in the bridge, before it picks up again in the final chorus. It hits way harder this way, and makes you feel the lyrics in the core, no matter the desperation in ‘So now I’m hell-bent, caught deep, lost in the fog’, or the twisted romance in ‘With no way out but the dreams you found for me’, the sentiments are carefully expressed in the pulsing guitars and marching drums.
